The Russian Science and Humanities today are not just going through a difficult period of renovation but continuing crisis. There are several reasons to this situation: lack of demand for researchers in industry, relatively low wages of academics, migration of academics into commerce, emigration abroad, a low iprestige of Science and Humanities in views of young people and, caused by the abovementioned, a steady aging of academia. Based on the data of all-Russia studies, the article reveals the structural dysfunctionality of academia personnel including the residual presence of a large nonproductive personnel, the reasons of academia aging and the reluctance of University graduates to choose an academic career, graduates decrease as a result of the negative impact of the "demographic" pit and, therefore, a lack of graduate students. |
