dc.description.abstract | The article deals with the problem of speaking activities in developing communicative competence. The contemporary methodology pays much attention to the problems of the development of speech skills. The problems of teaching dialogical speech, its features and types, typologies of exercises for the development of dialogical speech of schoolchildren, and the selection of tasks have been investigated by a wide range of methodologists. The expectations of today's youth require original and challenging methods of teaching foreign languages. A major objective of current methodology is teaching conversational skills. Students' communicative competence depends on how efficiently ail the language skills are developed. To create classroom speaking activities that will develop communicative competence, instructors need to incorporate a purpose and an information gap and allow for multiple forms of expression. However, quantity alone will not necessarily produce competent speakers. Instructors need to combine structured output activities, which allow for error correction and increased accuracy, with communicative output activities that give students opportunities to practice language use more freely. | en_US |
