The article under consideration focuses on bilingual education with
particular emphasis on the role of the teacher and the competences required for
effective bilingual instruction. The research presents the fundamental definitions of
bilingual education, its models, and pedagogical principles, with special attention
devoted to teacher competences in bilingual environments.
